Joint Sitting of RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the RF FA FC Committee on International Affairs Held in Moscow

On May 30, the delegation led by the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations was in Moscow to take part in the joint sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and the RF FA FC International Affairs Committee.

The NA deputies Anush Begloian (My Step Faction), Sos Avetisyan (My Step Faction), Arman Abovyan (Prosperous Armenia Faction) and Arman Babajanyan (Bright Armenia Faction) were in the delegation.

Within the framework of the visit the delegation had a meeting with the Deputy Chair of the RF FA Federation Council Yury Vorobyov. From the Russian side the RA FA Federation Council Chair of the Committee on Defense and Security Viktor Bondarev, representatives of the International Affairs Committee Vladimir Dzhabarov, Sergei Kislyak, Igor Kagramanyan, Vlaidmir Lukin, Olga Timofeeva and others attended the meeting.

Yury Vorobyov recorded with satisfaction the continuity of friendly and ally relations between Armenia and Russia. In the context of the inter-parliamentary cooperation the consistent work of the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Committee was emphasized.

In his speech the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan has noted with satisfaction that firm political dialogue is formed between the two countries, underlining that Armenia and Russia are ally and strategic partners. Ruben Rubinyan highlighted the efforts and the role of Russia as the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the provision of peace and stability in the region.

The Chair of the RF FA Federation Council International Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev has underlined with satisfaction the efficiency of the relative Committees, noting that it is a platform of open and transparent discussions, which allows studying the experience of the two countries, the coordinated cooperation on the international platforms and outlining the new perspectives.

The RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation Vardan Toghanyan also took part in the meeting.

The items included in the agenda of the Committees’ joint sitting related to the global and regional security challenges in the South Caucasus, in the Armenian-Russian strategic cooperation to the CIS, to the CSTO and to the EEU, as well as the perspectives of cooperation on the international platforms.

At the sitting other items of mutual interest were also discussed.

According to the results of the joint sitting the sides adopted a joint statement.
